Ecuador and Globalization

Ecuador is a very little country that is being really affected by globalization. Even tough the enormous natural resources, petroleum and mines there, industry is so basic and there are no enough  income and  good quantity of jobs for everyone in there and since globalization began taking place in there, it’s actually easier to find cell phones’ stores than clothes’ markets. Years ago, there were no McDonalds or Coca Cola, but today, people are perfectly used to consume these brands.

Anyway, the current government has been implementing plans for people to change the consumer model focus to the national products rather than the Chinese or American ones. There are a lot of Ecuadorian brands now that have an image that says “Mucho mejor si es hecho en Ecuador”, so that more Ecuadorians can have a job and sell their products in their own land, at a good price. That’s actually a very good point for Ecuador’s national policies. Sadly, if globalization continues in the same path, it will finish up with all those efforts and Ecuador will become even more dependent of other economies such of the United States, just as all the other countries that are letting it happen.

Globalization Images

.     "Globalization" is a very used word nowadays. Looking for images about it, I found the ones shown below. The first one was chosen because we can appreciate clearly on there how, no matter where we go, in Asia or in America, globalization is making human societies all the same. Now, we can drink exactly the same “Coca Cola” in almost every country in the world. This means that every culture is loosing it’s identity.

.     The second image is about our planet with a bar code like if it is on sale. This is completely true: on Earth, everything has an owner, even the natural resources that the planet gives for free are taken by humans for trade. With globalization, trade has no limits, so that nowadays, the issue is not only that everything has to be bought , but that merchandises from each country compete with what every other place produce.

Globalization

On the web, I found this definition of globalization (I consider it the best one from those I read) it is from
http://mindtools.net/GlobCourse/gdef.shtml
hope you like it :D

Globalization is the closer integration of the countries and peoples of the world ...brought about by the enormous reduction of costs of transportation and communication, and the breaking down of artificial barriers to the flows of goods, services, capital, knowledge, and people across borders.
